買収金額は11.75億ドル（約1200億円）。
アニメ「鬼滅の刃」：
ソニーは、アニメ「鬼滅の刃」など有力コンテンツを保有している。
現在、米ネットフリックスといった動画配信大手に、供給中。
クランチロール：
クランチロールが持つ世界9000万人の会員基盤を取り込む。
世界の消費者に、直接コンテンツを届ける戦略を強化する。
親会社AT&Tから取得：
ソニーは親会社のAT&Tからクランチロールの運営会社の株式の全てを取得し、完全子会社にする。
クランチロールは2006年に創業、
- アニメの配信で無料会員9000万人、
- 300万人の有料会員を、
- 欧米など200以上の国と地域に抱える。
関係当局の承認などを経て手続きを完了する。
米ファニメーション・プロダクションズ：
ソニーは17年にアニメ配信の米ファニメーション・プロダクションズを買収した。
現在、米国に100万人の会員がいる。
「鬼滅の刃」アニプレックス：
ソニーは、傘下に「鬼滅の刃」を制作したアニプレックス（東京・千代田）を保有。
有力なアニメ作品を多く抱える。
今回の買収により、コンテンツを自前の配信網で世界に届けるような形へと事業を拡大する。

Sony will be buying
anime streaming service Crunchyroll from AT&T for $1.175 billion, Sony and AT&T announced Wednesday.
Specifically, Crunchyroll
will become part of Sony’s Funimation, which already licenses many popular shows such as Attack on Titan, Fullmetal Alchemist, and One Piece.
Now that Sony owns both Crunchyroll and Funimation, the company
has tremendous power over anime in the US at a time when many other media companies are trying to figure out their anime content.
Netflix has also invested heavily in both licensing and producing its own anime content.

Funimation
