風力を利用してエンジンを補う帆を備えた日本のばら積み貨物船。
日本からの最初の航海を終え、オーストラリア東部の港に到着しました。
その技術は、温室効果ガスの排出削減を目的としています。
About 100 people, including officials from Japanese and Australian companies,
took part in a welcome ceremony at the port of Newcastle on Monday morning.
The coal carrier with a hard fiberglass sail was built by major Japanese shipping company Mitsui O.S.K. Lines.
The ship uses a 15-meter-wide sail
that can extend as high as 53 meters to convert wind energy directly to a propulsion force.The height and angle of the sail
are automatically adjusted depending on the direction and strength of wind.At the ceremony,
a company official said the sail can help cut greenhouse gas emissions by 5 percent on a voyage between Japan and Australia.The deputy secretary of transport for the state of New South Wales,
Tara McCarthy, stressed that it is important to support the decarbonization of transport infrastructure.
Mitsui O.S.K. Lines executive Shiotsu Nobuo said he hopes utilizing updated traditional sailing technology will help build an environmentally friendly society.

Après avoir terminé son voyage inaugural depuis le Japon, elle est arrivée dans un port de l’est de l’Australie.
La technologie vise à réduire les émissions de gaz à effet de serre.
