LG Electronics:

OLED TV:

「海外で販売されたものは現在修理の対象ではない」と同社は付け加えた。

しかし、潜在的な安全上の問題として、「海外市場も調査中」とのこと

LG said in a statement.

“The overheating issue occurred only in very few models out of the total that used the component, but we will provide free component swaps for all of them for customer safety,”

According to LG,

the faulty components in the power boards

are used to minimize noise from currents.

As the affected TV’s performance degrades, the current increases on the power board, creating a “current overflow” that can lead to potential overheating.

Here is the full list of models affected by the recall:

OLED65E6, OLED65G6 and OLED77G6 from 2016; OLED65B7, OLED65C7, OLED65E7, OLED65G7, OLED65W7, OLED77G7 and OLED77W7 from 2017; OLED65G8, OLED65W8, OLED77C8 and OLED77W8 from 2018; and OLED65W9, OLED77B9, OLED77C9 and OLED77W9 from 2019.

Meantime, Korean archrival Samsung

recently faced complaints about malfunctioning Blu-ray players that entered into an endless startup loop.

The tech giant responded by saying on its support page

that “we are aware of the boot loop issue that appeared on certain 2015 Samsung Blu-Ray players and are offering free mail-in repairs to customers who have been impacted.”

Those with affected devices are asked to call 1-800-SAMSUNG.

Samsung, however,

seems to be holding up much better than LG amid the ongoing coronavirus pandemic. In its earnings guidance earlier in the month, the company said that its overall profit likely rose 23%.

LG, meanwhile,

forecast a profit decline of 24% for the second quarter. Just last month, LG launched its first 48-inch OLED HDTV, part of the CX Series, to mostly positive reviews.

LG launches repair program for overheating OLED TVs in South Korea – The Verge

LG has launched a repair program for some of its OLED

TVs sold in South Korea since 2016,

Yonhap News reports.

The issue is related to components in the TVs’ power boards, which LG said

could cause current increase leading to potential overheating as performance degrades over time.

A spokesperson for the company

said that the issue only appears to be affecting TVs sold in South Korea for now, but added that LG is “investigating other markets” for potential issues.
