VodafoneZiggo innoveert in mobiele netwerk met Open RAN

VodafoneZiggo en NEC hebben 15 oktober 2020 een eerste mobiele gesprek gevoerd via een open virtueel VodafoneZiggo radionetwerk in Nederland.
Deze Open RAN-technologie (Radio Access Network) voor mobiele netwerken is de nieuwe trend in telecommunicatie architectuur.
Hiermee is het mogelijk om functies die nu worden verzorgd door hardware, volledig om te zetten naar software.
Dit maakt het netwerk flexibeler met meer automatisering, waardoor sneller nieuwe diensten voor klanten zijn te ontwikkelen.
