サンディエゴ沖で、米海軍及び米海兵隊の支援を得て、試験を実施中。

海上自衛隊の大型護衛艦「Kaga」：
１．2024年3月、「Kaga」は1回目改修を終了、F35B発着が可能になった。
２．F35B発着用に大規模改修の2回目実施、事実上「空母化」した。
日本政府は、F35B構成部隊を常時、「Kaga」に搭載することはない。
また日本国憲法上、「Kaga」は「攻撃型空母」には当たらない。
