Tesla Model S Plaid would have exploded while owner was driving
To put out the spontaneous fire, 25 gallons of water were used in the process
– a fire with a car with a combustion engine requires, on average, 300 gallons.
After the corporation’s work, the Tesla Model S Plaid was stored by firefighters in a warehouse and then removed from the site by its owner
– who promised to conduct an independent investigation to find out what caused the explosion, according to McGarvey.
So far,
neither Tesla nor Musk have made any official announcements about the episode.Still, the investigation also works with the hypothesis that the owner, unknowingly, has damaged the bottom of the tram in some way, and that the fire is not indicative of any major problem with the vehicle.
This is not the first time a company vehicle has combusted in a similar way:
in November 2020, a Model 3 caught fire after an accident in the US state of Oregon.
In 2019, NHTSA began investigating several fire cases with Teslas.
