Micron Technology両社は、中国西安市に保有するメモリチップ工場の生産を減速させている。

- 人口1200万都市である西安が、
- 2021年12月23日、ロックダウンに踏み切ったためだ。
Samsung：
「現在のCOVID-19感染状況を鑑み、西安の当社製造施設の稼働を一時的に調整するという決断に至った」との声明を発表した。
Micron：
「ロックダウンにより、Micron西安工場のメンバーや業者人員が不足しているため、DRAM組立工場の生産水準に影響が及んでいる」と述べている。
2021年の半導体不足：
米国テキサス州オースティンで、2021年2月停電が発生したことによって悪化した。
オースティンには、
Samsung、
NXP Semiconductors、
Infineon Technologiesなど半導体工場があるためだ。米国市場調査会社

Jim Handy氏「西安は、世界NANDフラッシュ生産量全体の約15％」を占める。
この数値は、Samsungの製品構成予測をベースとしたものである。
またMicronについては、同様の予測値をまだ把握できていない。
深刻な生産不足：
深刻な生産不足により、価格が急騰する可能性がある。
このようなシナリオは、2017年にNANDフラッシュで、2018年にはDRAMで、それぞれ発生している。

Samsung Electronics Puts Xian Plant into Emergency Mode
Samsung Electronics
has put its semiconductor plant in Xian, China into emergency mode as the Chinese government locked down the city to prevent the spread of COVID-19.
The company is expected to discuss with local Chinese public health authorities
ways to allow key officials to stay in separate accommodations and freely enter the workplace.
The Chinese city
implemented the blockade on Dec. 22 as the number of confirmed COVID-19 cases surged.
Xian has a population of about 13 million.
Only one person in each household
can go out once every two days to purchase daily necessities.Companies must have their employees work from home.
Samsung Electronics
has NAND Plants 1 and 2 in Xian. Plant 1 has been in full operation since 2014.The Korean semiconductor giant
started making its first phase investment in Plant 2 in 2018 and began rolling out products in March 2020.The second phase is near its end.
The two plants can process 120,000 and 130,000 sheets of wafer per month, respectively.
They account for about half of Samsung Electronics’ annual NAND production.
