そこで、隕石を掘り出すために、アフリカに向かう。

隕石に含まれる未知の元 ラジウムXを手に入れ、医学に役立てようというのだ。

ラジウムXの研究：

しかしラジウムXの研究をしているうち、

体が放射能を帯びてしまい、暗がりで皮膚が光るようになる。

彼が触れるだけで人間や動物が死ん でしまう。
