米海軍長官は2023年9月、次の通り主張した。
１．日韓など同盟国造船企業と、提携すべき時が来た
２．先進造船企業を米国に誘致し、近代化を図るべき
日韓は、イージス艦など高品質な艦艇を、米国の数分の一のコストで建造している。
両国の造船所が使用しているデジタルツールを取り入れたい。
日本や韓国の造船所：
今年3月に日韓を訪問した。
１．日本の造船：佐世保重工、MHI、JMU と協議。
２．韓国の現代重工業、Hanwha Oceanと協議。
日韓の建造進捗管理・技術水準：
デジタルシステムのレベルの高さに驚いた。
１．建造状況をリアルタイムで把握できる。
２．個々の建材の在庫情報まで、一瞬で入手できる。
日韓は、’艦艇の引き渡し時期はいつなのか？’について、即回答できる。
