Deutsche Bahn (DB):
On November 23, it announced that it would cooperate in the test operation of a train that uses hydrogen as an energy source.
H2goesRail:
This test run was named “H2 goes Rail”.
It will be held in Tubingen, Baden-Württemberg, southwestern Germany for one year from 2024.
Fuel cells and lithium-ion batteries:
Siemens Mobility will be equipped with fuel cells and lithium-ion batteries.
The two-car train “Mireo Plus H” runs on the routes of Tübingen, Holb and Pforzheim.
Expected to travel about 120,000 km in one year.
Production of hydrogen energy:
Hydrogen, which is an energy source, will be produced by DB Energy, a DB subsidiary, in Tubingen City by electrolysis using renewable energy.
CO2 reduction:
As a result, the CO2 reduction by this project is expected to be about 330 tons.
Filling with hydrogen:
The cruising range of a hydrogen train depends on the driving conditions.

Die Deutsche Bahn (DB) und Siemens Mobility
treiben die klimafreundliche Verkehrswende voran und testen erstmals den Einsatz von Wasserstoff für die Schiene.
Konkret geht es darum, ein völlig neues Gesamtsystem aus einem neu entwickelten Zug und einer neu konzipierten Tankstelle zu erproben.
Eines ihrer Instandhaltungswerke rüstet die DB so um, dass der Wasserstoffzug dort gewartet werden kann.
