This is why the German car industry is so important to the country’s economy.All in all, 1,327 local units of enterprises with 20 or more persons employed were engaged in the manufacture of motor vehicles, trailers and semi-trailers in 2016. These employed approximately 828,000 people or 14% of the total staff working at local units in manufacturing. They achieved a turnover of 407 billion euros.
