Lasertec: New semiconductor inspection equipment: Mask for circuit printing / EUVL technology
October 4, 2019 12:30 JST
Samsung and TSMC mass-produce semiconductors using EUVL
The stock price is about 7000 yen, about 2.4 times that of the end of last year.
Semiconductor inspection equipment manufacturer: Lasertec: President Osamu Okabayashi
Announced that there are ‘inquiries from multiple companies’ about a new machine for miniaturization technology called extreme ultraviolet exposure (EUVL).
President Okabayashi said, “In September 2017, we received an order from a semiconductor manufacturer for 16 billion yen”.
He said there is a lot of interest from manufacturers who manufacture semiconductors for 5G (next generation communication standards) related products such as smartphones.
We do not mention specific company names.
Circuit baking mask: EUVL technology and inspection equipment
In September, the company completed the world’s first device for inspecting masks used for circuit printing with EUVL technology.
Lasertec:
Since 2013, EUVL-related inspection equipment has been commercialized ahead of competitors.
In 2017, we began selling mask blanks inspection equipment, which is a mask blank.
EUVL-related sales for the current term (year ending June 2008) are expected to be approximately 17.6 billion yen, approximately 2.5 times the previous year (accounting for more than 40% of the total)
For 5G technology: Semiconductor miniaturization
Competition for development of semiconductor miniaturization continues for 5G technology, which is the key to realizing high-performance smartphones and autonomous driving.
If EUVL technology is used, a thin circuit can be drawn on the wafer.
