Turkey: Car sales slump in 2019: 22.8% YoY

The Turkish Automobile Sales Association (ODD) has announced its domestic car sales (retail) for January 3, 2019.
Passenger cars: 387,256 units, down 20.4% year-on-year
Light commercial vehicles: 91,804 units, down 31.8% year-on-year,
Overall sales: 479,060 units, down 22.8% year-on-year.
Sales volume has been halved compared to 2016, indicating a slump in sales over the last three years.
Passenger car sales:
Sedan: 49.9% (193,082 units).
SUV: 25.4% market share (98,509 units),
Hatchback: 20.9% market share (8,0788 units)
Light commercial vehicles: sales share
Vans: 72.7% (66,704 vehicles)
Light trucks: 11.8% (1,0838 units),
Minibus: 7.8% (7,203 vehicles),
Pickup: 7.7% (7,059 units)
By manufacturer: Sales share (see Table 1)
Of the 42 companies that have sold in Turkey,
Fiat’s sales were up 8.8% year-on-year, making it the only brand to increase sales within the top 15 companies.
1st place: Fiat: 1st place in sales volume, 15.9% of the total (76,251 units)
2nd place: Renault fell 24.3% (64,977 units),
3rd place: Volkswagen down 27.4% (48,496 units)
4th place: Ford fell 28.0% (47,107 units).
Japanese company
Isuzu (down 58.7%, 925 units),
Mazda (58.5% decrease, 417 units),
Nissan (50.4%, 13,067 units) saw a large drop.
Automotive Industry Association (OSD):
Turkey’s car sales (shipments) in 2019 fell 23.3% to 49,909 units.
Domestic production decreased 12.1% and imports decreased 30.3%.
Number of registered cars:
Number of registered cars as of the end of November 2019 (23,177,769)
125.019.508 units (54.0%) are passenger cars.
