China: New car sales in 2019, down 8.2% yoy: Japanese car sales are strong

On January 13th, 2019 car sales were reduced by 8.2% year-over-year to 25,679,000 units.
Sales decreased for the second consecutive year, down about 3 million units compared to the peak in 2017.
Passenger cars: 21,444,000 units, down 9.6% year-on-year, a decrease exceeding the overall figure.
Sedan: down 10.7% year on year,
SUV: down 6.3% year on year,
Crossover: down 11.7% year-on-year.
Commercial vehicles: decreased by 1.1% to 4.324,000 units.
Monthly sales volume: growth rate (see Figure 2)
December 2019 was down 0.1% from the same month last year, and has been negative for the 18th consecutive month.
However, the rate of decrease has shrunk.
Manufacturers by country: 2019 sales volume
Chinese brand:
Passenger vehicles decreased 15.8% year-on-year to 8,407,000 units, significantly lowering overall sales.
Its share in passenger car sales was 39.2%, down 2.9 points.
Japanese brand:
The top three companies remain strong.
Toyota: 1.62 million units, up 9% year-on-year
Honda: Maintained an increase of 8.5% year-on-year to 1,554,433 units.
Nissan: Sales decreased by 0.1% to 1,546,891 units (including imported vehicles)
