Australia (FCAI): New car sales in 2019: Lowest since 2011

Australian Automobile Industry Council (FCAI): (See Table 1)

On January 6, 2019 car sales were down 7.8% year-on-year to 1,062,867 vehicles.

The lowest annual sales volume since 2011.

Until December 2019, it has been declining for 21 consecutive months compared to the previous year.

Compared to 2018, overall unit sales declined, passenger car sales decreased 16.5% year-on-year

Total sales:

Total sales decreased 2.4%.

The SUV ratio increased 2.5 points compared to 2018, accounting for 45.5% of the total.

By manufacturer: Sales volume (see Table 2)

1st place: Toyota accounted for 19.4% of the total, but sales volume decreased by 5.2% from the previous year.

2nd: Mazda (9.2% share),

3rd place: Hyundai (8.1%),

4th: Mitsubishi Motors (7.8%)

5th place: Ford (6.0%)

In both cases, sales volume has declined since 2018.

Kia Motors:

Kia Motors is the only one among the top ten, up 4.6% year-on-year, up one place from 2018 to 6th place.
