UK (SMMT): 2019 car production: lowest in 10 years

British Automobile Manufacturers and Suppliers Association (SMMT): (See Table 1)

On January 30, the company announced domestic vehicle production for 2019.

Total production:

1.33,135 units, down 14.2% from the previous year, the third consecutive year of decline, the lowest level since 2010

Production for overseas exports decreased 14.7% year-on-year
Domestic production fell 12.3%.

SMMT:

The UK’s withdrawal deadline has been postponed several times.

The company’s suspension of factories to “avoid the effects of the EU departure” is a factor in the decline in production.

It has been decided beforehand to conclude an FTA with the EU that does not impose tariffs on all automotive products.

2019: Withdrawal from the automobile industry

Nissan:

In February 2019, the company announced that it would cancel the production plan in the UK for the next model of the X-Trail SUV.

Honda:

Announced that domestic production will be discontinued by 2021 (See article on February 20, 2019)
