India (SIAM): November 2019 Vehicle sales: SUVs, driving sales of passenger cars

On December 10, we announced our car sales figures for November.
Passenger car sales:
Overall: Year-on-year changes are almost unchanged. This was down 0.8% to 263,773 units.
Regular cars: 160,306 units, down 10.8%,
Vans: 10,728 units, down 34.3%
SUVs: 92,739 units, up 32.7%, significantly contributing to sales of passenger cars.
SIAM: Sales status description
Manufacturers launch new models, mainly SUVs, for the festival season.
Drive sales with discount campaigns.
However, consumer sentiment is still cold as the economic downturn continues.
Results by manufacturer: (See Table 2)
Three of the 13 major manufacturers achieved positive growth.
1st place: Maruti Suzuki: 139,133 units, down 3.3% year-on-year. It turned negative again from a 2.3% increase last month.
2nd place: Hyundai Motor: 44,600 units, up 2.0% year-on-year. The small SUV “venue” is selling well.
“Consumer preference is shifting to smaller SUVs,” according to SIAM
Kia Motors’ Celtos,
MG motor “Hector”,
Renault’s “Tribar” etc.
The UV segment, mainly for mainstream models, will support sales of passenger cars as a whole.
