India (SIAM): November car sales: positive for 4 consecutive months

Indian Automobile Manufacturers Association (SIAM):

On December 11, the Indian Automobile Manufacturers Association released November automobile statistics (shipment basis).

Passenger car sales [including UV and vans]:

Due to the Hindu Diwali (Torch Festival), it increased by 4.6% from the same month of the previous year to 264,898 units, showing positive growth for 4 consecutive months. General passenger cars decreased by 2.8% to 149,949 units, a minus.

UV increased 17.2% to 103,525 units,

Vans increased 8.2% to 11,424 units,

Each remained strong.

By manufacturer: (See Appendix Table 2)

Six of the 12 major manufacturers recorded positive growth.

Maruti Suzuki, which ranked first, fell 2.4% year-on-year to 135,775 units, the first negative figure in five months.

Hyundai Motor, which is in second place, has continued to grow steadily, rising 9.4% to 48,800 units.

Kia Motors showed the highest growth rate with an increase of 50.1%.
Mahindra & Mahindra up 24.5%,
Honda increased by 56.1%,
Each showed high growth.

Vehicle type:

Small SUVs and entry-level compact cars continue to drive demand.

Suzuki:

“Alto” “Espresso” “Wagon R” “Swift” “Celerio” “Ignis” “Vitara Brezza”,

Hyundai:

“I20” “Venue” “Crete”,

Kia:

New models “Sonnet” and “Seltos” etc.

The above models continue to support passenger car sales.
