India (SIAM): July car sales: signs of recovery

Indian Automobile Manufacturers Association (SIAM):
August 11, announced the July automobile statistics.
Passenger car sales (including UV and van): (See Attachment 1)
It decreased continuously by 3.9% from the same month of the previous year to 182,779 units.
The market is beginning to show signs of recovery as the lockdown is gradually released.
The rate of decrease was significantly smaller than in June when it decreased by about 50%.
Sales by vehicle type:
Passenger cars: 102,773 units, down 12.0% year-on-year,
Vans: 8,622 units, down 18.8% year-on-year,
UV: 71,384 units, up 13.9% year-on-year
It turned to positive growth for the first time in five months, and contributed significantly to the recovery of demand for passenger cars as a whole.
By major manufacturer: (See Attachment 2)
1st place: Maruti Suzuki increased by 1.3% year-on-year to 97,768 units, the first increase in half a year.
2nd place: Hyundai Motor decreased 2.1% to 38,200 units,
3rd place: Mahindra decreased by 34.5% to 11,025 units,
Compared to the previous month, there was a tendency for manufacturers to pick up their sales.
Vehicle type:
Suzuki: “Alto”, “Espresso”, “Bitter Labrezza”,
Hyundai: “Venue” “Crete”,
Kia: “Certus”,
Renault: “Triber” etc.
Sales are strong.
