India (SIAM): February Auto sales: Continued sluggishness in each division, concerns about production

Indian Automobile Manufacturers Association (SIAM): (See Table 1)

On March 13, released vehicle statistics for February 2020.

Passenger car sales (including SUVs and vans) decreased 7.6% year-on-year to 251,516 units.

Growth fell for the fourth consecutive month.

Passenger car sales: (See Table 2)

General passenger cars: 156,285 units, down 8.8%,
Vans: Sales decreased by 32.8% to 11,880 units.
SUV segment: Slight increase of 0.1%.
Major manufacturers:

In February, three of the 13 major manufacturers saw positive growth.

1st place: Maruti Suzuki returned to negative growth at 133,702 units, down 2.3% year-on-year.

2nd place: Hyundai Motor decreased by 7.2%, Tata decreased by 34.3%,

3rd place: Kia Motors’ sales reached 15,644 units, surpassing Tata and Mahindra to rise to 3rd place.

The market share of the four Japanese companies is just over 60%.
