India (SIAM): October auto sales increase: Special demand during the festival season

Indian Automobile Manufacturers Association (SIAM):
On November 11, we announced the automobile statistics for October.
Passenger car sales (including SUVs and vans) increased by 0.3% year-on-year to 285,027 units, the first positive growth since October 2018.
General passenger cars: 173,649 units, down 6.3% year-on-year
Van: 10,653 units, down 35.1% year-on-year
SUV: A significant increase of 22.2% year-on-year, surpassing 100,000 for the first time.
Hinduism: “Diwali”
According to SIAM, “Manufacturers have launched new models and offered discount campaigns for the Hindu festival“ Diwali ”, boosting demand.”
Passenger cars by manufacturer: Monthly sales (see Table 1)
1st: Maruti Suzuki increased by 2.3% year-on-year to 139,121 units, the first increase in one year.
2nd place: Hyundai Motor’s sales decreased by 3.8% year-on-year, to 5010 units, despite a year-on-year decline.
Compared to July-September, when sales were declining at a double-digit pace, there are signs of recovery.
13 major manufacturers:
Three companies recorded positive growth.
Kia Motors: “Certos”,
MG motor: “Hector”,
Renault: Sales of small SUVs such as “Tribar” were strong, which contributed significantly to the increase in demand for passenger cars as a whole.
