Myanmar (AAM): 2019 new car sales: up 25% year-on-year

Myanmar Automobile Association (AAM):

New car sales in 2019 were 21,916 units, up 25.1% from the previous year.

Passenger cars: 18,060 units (up 25.5%),

Commercial vehicles: 3,856 units (up 23.3%).

By manufacturer: Sales volume

Passenger car:

Leader: Suzuki at 10,935 units (up 26.5%),

2nd place: Toyota increased to 3,311 units (up 35.7%).

Commercial vehicles:

Leader: Suzuki at 2,271 units (up 34.7%)

2nd place: Toyota 606 units (up 5%),

Suzuki, which produces domestically, is performing well.

Domestic production volume:

15,496 domestic production in 2019 (up 25.9% year-on-year)

Passenger cars: 12,617 (up 24.6%),

Commercial vehicles: 2,879 (up 31.8%).

By manufacturer: Production volume

Passenger car:

Leader: Suzuki (10,908 units, up 24.2%)

2nd place: Nissan increased to 1,105 units (up 6.0%),

Commercial vehicles:

Leader: Suzuki at 2,349 units (up 44.1%),

2nd place: Ford’s 530 units (down 4.3%), Japanese manufacturers increased production.

Suzuki’s passenger car production and sales:

Both sales and production of new passenger cars exceeded 10,000 for the first time.

The second factory in Thilawa Special Economic Zone is being expanded to accommodate increased production.

Nissan car trends:

Malaysian capital / Tan Chong Motor started production at the new Bago plant in January 2020.

Production and sales are expected to increase in 2020.
