Israel: New car registrations in 2019: Japanese car share increase

Israel Automobile Importers Association:

In 2019, new vehicle registrations decreased 5.1% year-on-year to 253,938 units, down from 267,490 units in the previous year.

The number dropped by more than 13,000 from the previous year, and fell below 260,000 for the first time since 2016.

By manufacturer / brand: (See table)

1st place: Hyundai ranked first in 40,286 units for four consecutive years since 2016.

2nd place: Toyota increased 22.0% to 35,898 units, closing the gap with Hyundai Motor.

By type:

Passenger cars: 139,040 units (54.8% of total composition, 11.0% decrease from the previous year)
SUV: 100,631 units (up 39.6%, 5.4%),
Vans: 9,785 units (down 3.9% and 14.4%),
Pickup: 4,482 units (up 1.8% and 4.3%)

By Manufacturer / Brand: Number of Registrations

Toyota, Mitsubishi Motors, Suzuki, Nissan, and Mazda are among the top 10 companies.

The total number of registered 10 brands in Japan is 97,613.
It is almost the same level as the previous year’s 97,734.
Its share of the total is 38.4%, up from 36.5% in the previous year.

SUV: Number of registrations

It was 106,131 units, surpassing 95,517 in 2018.

Kia (16,240), Mitsubishi Motors (11,989) and Toyota (11,547) registered more than 10,000 vehicles.
