Myanmar: New car sales in the first half of 2019: 30% increase over last year

Myanmar Automobile Association:

The number of new vehicles sold in January-June 2019 was 8,859, up 29.1% from the same period last year.

New car sales: breakdown of units

Passenger cars: 7,315 vehicles (up 37.0% from the previous year),

Commercial vehicles: Passenger cars are growing at 1,522 units (up 1.4%), the same level as the previous year.

Sales by manufacturer: breakdown

Passenger car:

First place: 4,428 units (up 57.2%) for Suzuki,

2nd place: Toyota’s 1,346 units (33.3% increase),

Commercial Vehicles:

First place: 913 units of Suzuki (up 19.7%),

Second place: Toyota’s 203 units (34.7% decrease), Suzuki’s domestic production is doing well.

Domestic production number:

Domestic production volume in January-June 2019 is 7,620 units (+ 62.7% YoY),

Passenger cars: Domestic production of 6,320 units (+ 69.0%),

Commercial cars: Domestic production of 1,300 units (37.9% increase), again the growth of passenger cars was remarkable.

The leading Suzuki is 5,578 (up 70.2%),

Nissan ranked second with 510 units (+ 48.7%),

Commercial cars: Production volume

The leading Suzuki is 990 cars (+ 36.7%),

Each manufacturer is increasing production with 310 units (up 41.6%) for the second Ford.

Suzuki has its second plant in the Thilawa Special Economic Zone, but production is approaching its maximum capacity.
