China (CAAM): New car sales in the first half of 2019: 12.4% decrease from the previous year

First-half new car sales: (See Table 1)

Car sales dropped sharply by 12.4% year-on-year to about 12.32 million units.

June simple month:

About 2.06 million units, down 9.6% from the same month last year.

The decrease decreased 6.8 points from May (16.4% decrease).

June decrease: Reason for reduction

There was a rush demand for gasoline cars since “country 6”, a major city emission control system in China, was introduced for gasoline vehicles from July 1.

From June 26, there was a rush demand for new energy vehicles (NEVs) as the subsidies for NEVs were also reduced.

CAAM: Annual sales forecast (see Table 2)

“Automotive News China July 25” which revised sales forecast of 2019 downward to 26,680,000 units which decreased 4.7% from the previous year

Shanghai Automobile: Annual sales forecast

China’s largest automaker, Shanghai Automobile, has reduced its annual sales forecast to 6.54 million units, down 8% from the initial target, “Automotive News” July 19th.
