Korea: Annual sales volume of five automobiles: 2019, 3.8% decrease from the previous year

On January 2, five Korean vehicle manufacturers announced that “2019 sales were 7,9,812, down 3.8% from the previous year.”

Domestic sales declined due to the economic downturn and reduced demand.

In addition, demand in emerging markets such as China and India decreased, and exports also decreased.

Domestic sales decreased 0.8% to 1,533,166 units, and overseas sales decreased 4.5% to 6,387,646 units.

By Manufacturer: Worldwide Sales

Hyundai: 3.6% decrease to 4,422,644 units,

Kia: 2,76,973 units, down 1.5%

Korea GM: 9.9% decrease, 417,226 units

Renault Samsung: 177,450 units down 22.0%,

Ssangyong: 132,799 units, down 6.5%.

Domestic sale:

Domestic sales increased only in Hyundai from the previous year.

Overseas sales:

All five companies decreased year on year.

Hyundai: 3.68 million units decreased by 4.8%

Kia: 1.3% down at 2.25 million units,

Renault Samsung: 95,91 units down 34.0%,

Ssangyong: 25,010 units down 23.9%,

Korean GM: 340,755 units, down 7.8%.
