Japan · Kyoto Univ .: Creating “oogonium cells” from human iPS cells – the first successful in the world

A research group ・ Kyoto University succeeded  for the first time in the world to create “oogonium cells” that will be the source of ova from human iPS cells.

This technology is said to be useful in the future to elucidate the cause of infertility.

The group of Kyoto University Graduate School of Medicine, Professor Norikazu Saito and others made cells from germ cells from human iPS cells.

Furthermore, it was cultured for approximately 3 months in a container together with the ovary cells taken from the mouse fetus.
