Shin Nihon Kagaku: Successful artificial growth of glass eels: Warm and clean seawater

-Endangered eel fry-

Shin Nihon Kagaku:

“New Japan Science” is conducting research toward complete aquaculture of Japanese eels on Okinoerabujima

Successful growth of glass eels:

In September, it was the first time that we succeeded in hatching artificially inseminated eggs and growing them into glass eels of about 5 cm.

Shin Nihon Kagaku believes that the warm and clean seawater near Okinoerabujima was the key to its success.

Future plan

Survival rate of less than 1% at this stage.

In the future, we would like to increase the survival rate of growing glass eels.

I would like to connect it to the mass production of Nihon eels.

President Ryoichi Nagata

It was a big step up for mass production.

When it is commercialized, we would like to lead to the expansion of local employment.
