Maersk: New Asia / Europe transport started: Siberian Railway via St. Petersburg port

St. Petersburg:

August 19, 2019 (Tas Communications, August 7)

Danish Shipping Maersk:

We started a new container freight service from Asia to Europe.

A service that transports sea again via the Russian Siberian Railway and St. Petersburg Port.

Marine transportation services: benefits

Required time is 18 days.

The number of days required is less than half when using the sea route rather than via the Indian Ocean or the Mediterranean Sea.

The advantage is that the lead time is shorter than the rail transport from the Far East port to Europe.

Maritime transport service: Route

The route is as follows.

Depart from Kobe or Busan, Korea, and transport it by sea to “Bostochny” port in Nakhodka, Far East of Russia.
Transshipped to Siberian Railway, crossed Russia, and transported to St. Petersburg port terminal “Petroresport”.
They are transshipped to sea, and finally arrived in Gdansk, Poland by sea transport again.

Maersk website:

It takes about 42 days for the company to travel by sea from Busan to Gdansk.

The new route can be transported in less than half the days.
