Russia RZD: FESCO uses Siberian Railway-Japan Freight Transport Service launched

Russia’s leading transport company FESCO:

On May 23, Yokohama Port announced that it will start freight transport services to Europe utilizing TSR.

FESCO is in charge of ocean freight transportation from Japan to the Far East and container cargo management at ports.

Rail transport is contracted by RZD Logicika, an RZD subsidiary.

By sea transportation, it takes about 45 days from Yokohama Port to Europe.

With this transportation service, transportation in 19 days is possible.

It plans to start providing service from June.

Today, 3 million TEUs (20-foot container equivalent units) of containers are transported between Japan and Europe annually.

However, everything is via the Suez Canal.

FESCO works with RZD to provide faster and more efficient transportation services utilizing TSR.

In Japan as well, the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism in 2018 is carrying out a freight transportation demonstration project for Moscow using the Siberian Railway (Note) (see the article on September 5, 2018).

On June 17, the Siberian Railway will be used to start cargo consolidation transportation services for Moscow.
