Arctic Ocean Route: Russia expands transport volume by 8 times – Target · 80 million tons per year

By the end of 2024, the Russian government will raise the transportation amount of the Arctic Ocean Passage to 80 million tons, which is eight times that of the current 9.9 million tons (as of January 2018).

Plan to improve port construction and associated facilities’ (see attached document) towards increasing transportation amount of Arctic Ocean Passage.

On the Yamal Peninsula, a large-scale liquefied natural gas (LNG) project is under way.

They will build four additional LNG / icebreakers between 2019 and 2024, in addition to the maintenance and expansion of the Sabetta port at the LNG export base.
