Railway Research Institute: New type of fuel cell hybrid train: SiC adopted, volume reduced by 45%
Railway Technical Research Institute (Railway Research Institute):
A fuel cell hybrid test train was introduced.
Miniaturization and high performance:
Compared to the conventional fuel cell hybrid test train, the cabin space has been expanded by reducing the size and performance of the equipment.
The power was also increased by a factor of 1.5, and a practical test train with a higher starting acceleration was completed.
Level-up content:
In the new model, lithium-ion batteries, power converters, and fuel cell modules are downsized and placed under the floor.
Output increased by 50% 、 higher output density of fuel cells 、 distributed arrangement of cooling devices.
Reduce volume per output by 20%.
Fuel cell power converter:
Adopts silicon carbide (SiC) element and small car technology.
The vehicle was unveiled at Railway Technical Research Institute 2019 (held on August 29th and 30th).
