Hitachi Rail STS has received an order for the latest set of signaling systems for the Etihad Rail Project: Stage 2 for about 1.6 billion UAE dirham (about 47.3 billion yen).
Etihad Rail project:
Etihad Rail Project: Stage 2 is a project led by Etihad Rail (UAE Railroad Line Development and Management).
The Etihad Rail project is about 1200 km long, connecting the major UAE regions with neighboring GCC countries.
Stage 2:
This time, Hitachi Rail STS will provide the latest signal system in stage 2.
A cargo route with a total length of about 605km that connects the western border between Fujairah, located in the east of the UAE, and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
If this route is realized, UAE’s annual capacity of 7 million tons of cargo will be increased to more than 50 million tons per year.
