Railway Research Institute: ‘Superelectric Leading Wire System’ test : Applied to electric railway (DC 1500V)
Railway Research Institute: ‘Superelectric Leading Wire System’
Driving test on the Chuo Main Line:
With the cooperation of JR East, we are aiming for the practical application of the ‘super-electric lead wire system’.
On August 6th, we conducted an application test of the “superconducting electric wire system” and succeeded.
Connected to the ‘DC 1500V ・ existing electric wire’ on the Chuo Main Line,
Conducted energization test and system disconnection test with actual vehicle running.
Current test:
The system is cooled using liquid nitrogen as a refrigerant to maintain the superconducting state.
Then connect in parallel to the existing cable on the Chuo Main Line.
result:
During acceleration, a maximum current of 2200A flowed from the substation through the system to the test vehicle.
During braking, it was confirmed that the regenerative current from the test vehicle flowed in the opposite direction and was transmitted to the Toyota Center vehicle.
It was also confirmed that the test train was able to successfully pass through the section.
If a superconducting cable with zero electrical resistance is used for the DC feeder that supplies power to the overhead wire,
Power loss can be reduced and regenerative power generated during braking can be used more efficiently.
