On August 13, the results of a survey on the perception of Americans in China were announced.
Against China
Proportion of respondents saying “not favorable”: Deteriorated rapidly from 60% (47% of the previous year).
Proportion of respondents saying “favorable”: Decreased 12 points from 38% in the previous year to 26%.
Republican supporters:
Seventy percent answered “not favorable” and “favorable” was 20%.
Democratic supporters:
“Non-favorable” is 59%, and “Non-favorable” is 30%.
Republican supporters are more aware that they are less favorable.
Republican supporters, the percentage of “unfavorable” rose sharply from 51% in the previous year to 70%.
Democratic supporters also increased the percentage of “unfavorable” from 47% to 59%.
Economic relationship with China: (see table)
“Bad” accounted for the majority at 53%, and “good” was 41%.
China’s military enhancement:
80% say “bad”.
China’s economic growth:
“Good” was 50%, “Bad” was 41%, and “Good” was 9 points higher.
