JAXA: Kasuga Electric
Succeeded in developing a groundbreaking static eliminator.
Charged objects in vacuum can be neutralized at a speed 100 times faster than conventional vacuum static elimination technology.
Kasuga Electric has developed a “microwave plasma charge removal system” using this technology.
<Background and outline of joint research>
JAXA:
In the space exploration business, we have dealt with charging problems in vacuum as part of dust control.
JAXA has proposed to Kasuga Denki that “the microwave plasma source * 2 should be used as a static eliminator under vacuum”, which was used for the Hayabusa 2 ion engine neutralizer.
Kasuga Electric:
Charging in a vacuum causes discharge and dust adhesion, which can reduce yield.
In order to suppress this, we have been researching static eliminators that operate under vacuum.
Jointly developed static eliminator:
We have shown that positively and negatively charged objects can be neutralized at 100 times the speed of conventional vacuum neutralization technologies such as ultraviolet ionizers * 3.
Using this result, Kasuga Electric has developed a microwave plasma neutralization system (Fig. 2) for ground use.
