The asteroid explorer “Hayabusa” for the first time took the rock from the asteroid and brought it back to the earth.

“Hayabusa 2” is its successor, weighing about 600 kilograms.

The propulsion device is an ion engine, equipped with advanced technology such as optical camera and laser altimeter, and landing gear.

It was launched in H2A rocket from Tanegashima Space Center in Kagoshima prefecture in December 2014.
