Superconducting coil: for “ITER”

“RIKEN” and “Mitsubishi Heavy Industries” have completed the world’s largest superconducting coil / toroidal magnetic field coil “TF coil” for the fusion experimental reactor eater “ITER”.

【point】

◆ World’s largest superconducting coil for fusion reactor Eater is completed for the first time in the world.

◆ Mr. Vigo ITER thanked the completion of the memorable first ITER core equipment and praised the manufacturing technology.

◆ Established difficult welding technology for large and thick (about 230mm) structures made of special stainless steel for cryogenic temperatures.

For a huge superconducting coil with a height of 16.5m, a width of 9m and a total weight of 300 tons, it has been manufactured with a precision of less than 1 / 10,000.
