Mitsubishi Chemical: “Paper cup” evaluated worldwide-“NextGen Cup Challenge”
Mitsubishi Chemical:
A new paper cup with biodegradable resin “Bio-PBS” is selected as one of the most innovative cups in the global contest.
Biodegradability is enhanced compared to existing products, and it can be disassembled in a household garbage composter (compost) at room temperature.
The contest “Next Gen Cup Challenge” is sponsored by the group “Next Gen Consortium” established by Starbucks and McDonald’s to solve the global food packaging waste problem.
Twelve winners were selected from 480 ideas submitted from over 50 countries.
The exhibited paper cup was produced by PTT MCC Biochem (Thailand), a subsidiary established by a 50/50 joint venture between Mitsubishi Chemical and PTT Global Chemical (Thailand).
