JETRO: Canada’s Three Cities Investment Cost Comparison Survey

JETRO conducted an investment related cost comparison survey of 13 cities in North America from December 2018 to January 2019.
In addition to Toronto and Vancouver, Montreal, which is gaining attention as an artificial intelligence (AI) research and development base, has also been included in the survey.
Average hourly wage:
Canada’s average hourly salary in 2018 was $ 26.92 (approximately $ 2,261), up $ 0.76 (2.9%) from the previous year.
Average hourly wage:
Alberta (C $ 30.76)
Saskatchewan (27.46 C $)
Ontario (C $ 27.36): Toronto
British Columbia (C $ 26.77): Vancouver
Quebec ($ 25.42 Cd): Montreal-engineers and middle management wages cheaper
Manufacturing, job type monthly wage: 3 cities (see Figure 1)
Worker (general work) wage
Toronto is the lowest at $ 3,307.
Engineer (middle engineer) and middle manager (section manager class):
Montreal is the lowest at $ 4,467 and $ 6,115, respectively.
Non-manufacturing industry and job type monthly wage: 3 cities (see Figure 2)
Store staff (food and drink) wages
Vancouver is the lowest at $ 2,836.
Store staff (apparel), staff (salesmanship), manager (department manager class) wages
Montreal, the lowest at $ 3,090, $ 3,433 and $ 5,609, respectively.
