JETRO: Comparison of 10 cities in the United States with investment costs

JETRO conducted an investment cost comparison survey on 10 cities in the United States from December 2018 to January 2019 (Atlanta, Chicago, Columbus, Dallas, Houston, Honolulu, Los Angeles, San Francisco, Nashville, NY) The survey results were published on the website.

As an example of such data, many Japanese manufacturing companies operating in the United States introduce wages as one of the factors contributing to the increase in costs in recent years.

Monthly wage / manufacturing worker (general work position)

Atlanta: $ 2,941 is the lowest,

San Francisco: $ 3,679 is the highest.

Monthly wage / non-manufacturing staff (business staff)

Honolulu: $ 3,078 is the lowest,

New York: $ 4,478 is the highest

Nominal wage increase in 2018:

Honolulu (7.6%),

Los Angeles (6.0%),

Nashville (4.5%)

Personal income tax (maximum tax rate): (see table)

In comparison with 8 states (10 cities surveyed this time), personal income tax (maximum tax rate) is the highest in 12.3% in California.
