Ethiopian Investment Commission (EIC):
China’s investment in Ethiopia was 1,143 between 1992 and 2019.
At present,
621 are in operation,
144 are in preparation,
Investigation stage: 378 cases (Ethiopia Herald, February 8)
Employment during the operation is 138,673 regular employees and 61,854 non-regular employees, about 200,000.
By Industry: Investment Plan
Manufacturing: The largest in 867 (75.8%), China cannot be ignored for the industrialization of Ethiopia.
Chinese Embassy in Ethiopia: Announced 148 new investment plans from China in 2019, up 12% year-on-year.
United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD):
On January 20, 2020, “Global Investment Trend Monitor No.33” was announced.
Estimates of $ 2.5 billion in direct investment into Ethiopia in 2019.
60% of this is from China.
