NEC: Optical submarine cable connecting Asia:’ADC’ contract signed

NEC:

Large-capacity optical submarine cable connecting Japan, China, Hong Kong, Philippines, Thailand, Singapore and Vietnam.

A system supply contract for the installation project “Asia Direct Cable (ADC)” was signed.

The cable will be completed by the end of 2022.

Contracted party:

Consortium from 8 companies including SoftBank.

Vietnam: Viettel Group

The military industrial communications group (Viettel Group), a major mobile communications company affiliated with the Ministry of Defense, participated.

Asia Direct Cable: (ADC)

Optical submarine cable with a total extension distance of about 9400 km,
Adopt the latest optical wavelength division multiplexing transmission system,
Design capacity is 140Tbps or more per second.

NEC: Subsidiary OCC

NEC subsidiary OCC is in charge of cable manufacturing.

We can manufacture optical submarine cables that can withstand water pressure of 8000m in the deep sea.

Asia Direct Cable Consortium to build new Asia Pacific submarine cable

Tokyo, June 11, 2020 –

NEC Corporation (NEC; TSE: 6701)

today announced that the Asia Direct Cable (ADC) Consortium is building a high-performance submarine cable connecting

  1. China (Hong Kong SAR and Guangdong Province),
  2. Japan,
  3. the Philippines,
  4. Singapore,
  5. Thailand and
  6. Vietnam.

The consortium

has selected NEC to construct the 9,400-kilometer long ADC cable, which is expected to be completed by the fourth quarter of 2022.
