Chile: Optical submarine cable connecting South America and Asia: rejecting China plan

Chilean Government:

rejected the proposal from the Chinese side regarding the installation of optical submarine cables that connect South America and Asia.

Adopted the Sydney route, Australia proposed by Japan.

The end of the submarine cable is not Shanghai, which the Chinese side proposes.

It has been changed to Sydney, Australia.

The US government’s embargo on Huawei has forced Huawei to exit the submarine cable business.

On June 3, the Shanghai Stock Exchange was notified of the purchase of a 51% stake in Huawei Ocean Net.

Chile Decides: Transoceanic Cable to go to Australia and New Zealand
