We have completed the construction of a 2,300 km optical submarine cable connecting Chennai, India and the Andaman and Nicobar Islands.

Received an order to build the entire system:

This time,

Optical transmission terminal equipment installed on land,
Manufacture of optical submarine repeaters and optical submarine cables,
Marine survey and route design,
Installation of optical submarine cable system,
From laying work, training to delivery test
It is provided as an integrator for all systems.

OCC manufactures cables:

OCC manufactures “Japan’s only optical submarine cable that can withstand water pressure of 8,000 meters in the deep sea.”

NEC’s subsidiary OCC (Note 3) was in charge of manufacturing this cable.

NEC completes submarine cable system connecting Chennai, India and the A&N Islands

– December 18, 2020 –

NEC Corporation India (NEC India)

today announced the successful completion of the flagship optical submarine cable system

connecting Chennai, India and the Andaman & Nicobar Islands (A&N Islands) for Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL), a Government of India Enterprise.

NEC Corporation (NEC, TSE: 6701), the parent company of NEC India,

manufactured the optical submarine cable and provided technical assistance during the turnkey implementation.

100Gb/s optical waves

Spanning approximately 2,300km with 100Gb/s optical waves, the cable system connects Chennai to Port Blair and the islands of Havelock, Little Andaman (Hutbay), Car Nicobar, Kamorta, the Great Nicobar Islands, Long Island and Rangat.
