Kyoto Univ: Periodic Table of the 21st Century: Element Touch R Ver. 2

Kyoto University:

The widely used periodic table now begins with the short periodic table invented by Mendeleev in 1869.

After that, it is a long periodic table that was said to have been improved by Werner (winning the Nobel Prize in Chemistry in 1913) in 1905 (see the figure below).

It is a great achievement that this table was invented about 100 years ago.

However, there are some seemingly unreasonable points.

Then, as we entered the 21st century, we disassembled the conventional periodic table and created it from a new perspective.

That is the three-dimensional periodic table “Element Touch”.

[Characteristics of Element Touch]

The long periodic table is the most complete periodic table.

But it’s still not perfect.

Element Touch is a new periodic table with element symbols arranged in a spiral.

We have succeeded in solving the problems of the long periodic table.

With Element Touch:

New materials are often found by substituting elements in the same vertical row.

[Color of element touch]

The beach is a coral reef, and each element with a similar electron arrangement is color-coded.

1. s Electronic element: Sky blue
2. p Electronic element: Sand Yellow
3. Noble gas element: pink
4. d Electronic transition metal element: Marine blue
5. f Electronic transition metal element: Coral green
