Hamamatsu Photonics “Spatial Optical Phase Modulator”:

We have developed a “spatial optical phase modulator” optical component for laser metal processing.

It can withstand 3.5 times higher power laser light than conventional products. Welding and cutting of metal becomes easier.

The world’s largest laser exhibition:
Exhibited at the world’s largest laser exhibition to be held in Germany from June 27th to 30th.  
From December this year, it will be sold to metal 3D printers and laser processing machine manufacturers around the world.

Control the laser irradiation pattern:
The spatial light phase modulator can freely control the laser irradiation pattern.
For example, it can irradiate in a variety of patterns, such as linear, circular, and dotted patterns.
Conventional products from Hamamatsu Photonics:
The light resistance performance of the conventional product is 200 watts.
Although it could be used for glass materials and semiconductor wafers, it was difficult to handle metals.

“X15213-03CL” light resistance performance is 700 watts:

The recently developed “X15213-03CL” has a light resistance performance of 700 watts.

3.5 times higher than before.

Even if a high-power laser is incident, the temperature rise of the liquid crystal layer is suppressed to prevent deterioration of performance.

Sapphire, which has 30 times the thermal conductivity of conventional products, is used for the cover glass that covers the liquid crystal layer where the laser is incident.

By enclosing a filler with high thermal conductivity, the heat dissipation performance was improved.
