Japan falls to second place in top 100 innovative companies

February 19, 2020 “Derwent Top 100 Global Innovator 2020” Analyzing Intellectual Property (IP) and Patent Trends Based on Patent Application Data Held by the Company and Selecting Highly Innovative Companies and Institutions announced.

Last year in 2019, Japan ranked first with 39 awarded companies by country,

In 2020, the company dropped seven to 32, with 39 leading to the United States, which won the award.

Looking at the number of awarded companies by country and region,

  1. 39 companies in the United States,
  2. 32 Japanese companies,
  3. 5 companies in France,
  4. Germany and Taiwan 4 companies,
  5. China, Korea and Switzerland are three companies,
  6. The Netherlands has two companies,
  7. Finland, Ireland, Russia, Sweden and Canada were broken down into one company.

Of the 32 Japanese companies selected,

  1. Fujitsu,Panasonic,Hitachi,
  2. Shin-Etsu Chemical,
  3. Honda,
  4. Sony,NEC,Toshiba,
  5. NTT (Nippon Telegraph and Telephone),
  6. Toyota Motor,
  7. Eleven Olympus companies have been awarded for nine consecutive years.

Fujikura, which manufactures optical fibers and electric wires, was the first recipient of this award.
