Bosch: LiDAR for autonomous driving
Bosch, Germany, announced that it has completed long-distance LiDAR for autonomous driving in all cases of autonomous driving.
Bosch has been working on development since 2017.
Judging that LiDAR is indispensable in addition to camera image and radar sensing is required to achieve level 3 or higher autonomous driving.
It is the first LiDAR sensor developed to optimize autonomous driving.
Use cases: intersections and junctions
If your motorcycle is approaching a car at a high speed at an intersection or junction,
With a single radar, there are cases where “a thin motorcycle silhouette or a plastic cowl is difficult to detect.”
Also, with the camera alone, “the accuracy will be extremely reduced if it is backlit.”
“It is LiDAR’s job to compensate for those shortcomings.”
