Five cutting-edge technologies: Japan has the highest number of patent applications!

5 cutting-edge technology patents:

The Japan Patent Office analyzed Japan’s issues based on patent information for five cutting-edge technologies.

Japan tops patent filings:

Japan ranked first with 2,561 cases, followed by the United States in second place with 2,329 cases, China in third place with 1,766 cases, and Germany in fourth place with 1,433 cases.

Sony is No. 1 Applicant Ranking:

The survey also produced an “applicant” ranking.

1st place is Sony 466 cases, 2nd place is Bosch 421 cases, 3rd place is DJI 240 cases, 4th place is Samsung 194 cases, 5th place is Alphabet 181 cases.

Of the top 20 applicants, seven Japanese companies are ranked.

Denso in 5th, Panasonic in 10th, Topcon in 11th, Mitsubishi Electric in 14th, Toyota in 18th and Pioneer in 19th.

Sony LiDAR news:

February 2021 – Developed a dToF range sensor using SPAD (Single Photon Avalanche Diode).

September 2021-Sony Semiconductor Solutions commercializes a distance sensor that powers up LiDAR.

June 2022-Sony announced that it will start mass production of parts for in-vehicle LiDAR in 2023.

As the eyes of autonomous driving, LiDAR is an essential element in the development of autonomous vehicles.
